MLM Bad Name

There is a good reason for the fact that Multi Level Marketing has a bad name, many people think it is just another name for a scam. There are many bad MLM programs that were announced illegal. I'll try to explain why MLM business has a tendency to be illegal beyond other types of businesses.

The multi level marketing concept started when small companies in small towns could not have enough budgets for advertising and it was very hard to build distribution channels. The companies did not advertise and preferred to benefit their dedicated agents and distributors in such a manner that they will have a share of the revenue of the products they sell. Today, when we have the internet and we have access to almost every company and customer in the world and it is getting cheaper and cheaper to distribute products over the globe, the justification of the network marketing in the way we know it is decreasing.

Why it is very rare to be legitimate? The only legitimate MLM business that I know must have consumers that are not distributors. They are consumers of the product because they like the product and not see it as a business opportunity.

Now, what is the major thing that one should be careful before getting into an MLM program? The answer is very simple, put the illusion a side. The illusion relates to the "business opportunity" that the MLM distributor will try to convince you with. The distributor will speak most of the time about the business opportunity and not on the products he or she has to offer. If the business opportunity is not the major part of the conversation and the products are interesting and the distributor has a full and convincing answer for the fact that these products are distributed through an MLM program and not available in relevant stores then there are good chances that you have found a legitimate multi level marketing company.

There are legitimate multi level companies with real products and there are companies that all they sell is the "business illusion" sometimes wrapped with an artificial product that was created to justify their business. The bad companies gave the bad name to the entire industry. Like in every industry, it is important to clean it up and to take out the rotten companies before they ruin the entire industry.
